This file describes the content of
the "Monitoring Stations" folder in the
Waikerie NAFE trial campaign data archive

The folder contains the following files

* Base_station_1 and 2: contains the soil moisture, soil temperature, Rainfall and Thermal infrared data collected at Auncote and Duffield farm. The first sheet contains the data, the other 2 show temporal series of the data. The data are provided as follows:

- DATE: logger time
- Air Temperature [C]: measured at 2m
- Hydraprobe Voltages V1,V2,V3,V4 [mV]
- Hydraprobe Soil Temperature [C]
- Hydraprobe Moisture content [V/V]: converted from the raw voltages with "sand" soil type option
- Hydraprobe Salinity [g NaCl/l]
- Total Rain [mm]
- Thermal Infrared temperature [C]


* TIR CALIBRATION: this folder contains the files used to calculate thermal infrared temperature from
the instrument output voltages

1) IRT_mA_to_temp.xls: relationsahip to calculate raw temperature from instrument output voltage
2) IRT_No1_010503.xls: calibration of thermal infrared sensor of station 1
3) IRT_No2_010503.xls: calibration of thermal infrared sensor of station 2

Once 1) is applied, the theoretical black body equivalent radiation is calculated through the Stefan_boltzmann equation,
the thermal infrared temperature of the soil is then calculated by inverting the Stefan-Boltzmann and assuming an emissivity
of the soil equal to 0.95. 2) and 3) are then applied to this temperature to obtain effective soil temperature
